Day 54: Green Cottage Pet Store

Day 54: Green Cottage Pet Store: charming, friendly, knowledgable and welcoming.  If you have pets and want the very best for them, Green Cottage is a health food store for  dogs, cats, small animals and birds. They stock only the very best natural pet products and pride themselves on service and a knowledgable staff. If you forget what brand you normally buy, they’ve got it on file. If you have questions about the ingredients/contents of any particular item or whether or not that product is suited for your pet … they’ve got the answers. Yes, you are going to pay a bit more, but I like to call this the  “proactive health care plan”; of course it’s not covered.

We stumbled upon it after an $800 vet bill and weekend hospitalization of our family cat, Smokers. Yes, Smokers. It’s a long story.  The diagnosis? Poor diet leading to blood in the urine, a scorching fever and near death prompted by a poor diet (regular grocery store cat food). The vet prescribed low-ash wet cat food.  Huh? We had no idea what this meant, but were referred to the Green Cottage Pet Store. As I said, they were very knowledgeable and knew exactly which foods we should avoid and recommended the correct wet and dry foods. Turns out Meow Mix isn’t so healthy. But they have such great commercials?

So, if you love your pets and want the very best for them, check it out! The Green Cottage is located just off of Harborview Drive in Downtown Gig Harbor. It’s tucked away and not easily found without direction.
